Ocean Network Express (ONE) has signed a contract with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for six 13,700 TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships. These vessels are designed to switch between LNG and conventional fuel, providing flexibility amid rising Asian spot fuel prices and
ongoing energy volatility. The ships will also feature advanced hydrodynamic designs and AI-driven carbon-capture readiness, aligning with HD Hyundai’s recent automation initiatives. Sized for mid-range high-value trade corridors, the new vessels aim to bypass congestion at major hubs and enhance capacity resilience. ONE’s investment reflects a strategic move to address the fuel challenges and structural volatility in the maritime industry. The new ships are expected to enter service by 2027, positioning ONE to better navigate evolving global trade dynamics.
