PETRONAS has entered into a 20-year time charter agreement with MISC Group for five newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, each with a capacity of 174,000 cubic metres. The vessels will be constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, with charter operations expected to commence between 2029 and 2030. This deal aims to enhance PETRONAS's long-term LNG supply reliability and support its customers' transition towards lower-carbon energy solutions. The agreement reflects ongoing efforts in the maritime and energy sectors to invest in modern, efficient LNG transportation infrastructure. The partnership between PETRONAS and MISC underscores a strategic commitment to sustainable energy logistics over the coming decades.
