Hubei Kunpeng Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has officially registered a 2.2 billion RMB mega-project in Yidu, Yichang, with construction set to begin in May 2026. The project covers 99 acres and will feature eight automated production lines capable of producing 250,000 DWT annually, equivalent to 25 standard 10,000-ton inland vessels. Located within
the Yidu Green & Smart Shipbuilding Park, the development benefits from a 1.82 billion RMB Phase I investment, standardized slipways, and workforce housing. Key tenants include Damen Shipbuilding, Haike Heavy Industry, Minglang Group, and Shengmao New Energy, focusing on export vessels, LNG and new energy Ro-Pax ships, and hybrid transport technologies. Hubei aims to reach a 130 billion RMB shipbuilding output by 2027 under its "Thousand Sails Plan," targeting 1,000 green and smart inland vessels by 2030. The province also collaborates with six others to unify environmental standards and technical specifications for inland shipping over the next five years.
