Damen Shipyards has commenced operations at Damen Shiprepair Dakar through a joint venture with Senegal's Société des Infrastructures de Réparation Navale (SIRN). The partnership aims to operate and upgrade the key West African repair facility, which features a 191-metre drydock, a 235-metre floating dock,
and a synchrolift for vessels up to 1,200 tonnes. Positioned near major shipping routes and offshore oil and gas projects, the yard will support maintenance, drydocking, and potentially newbuilding activities. Damen plans to align the yard with its global standards in health, safety, and environmental performance, alongside infrastructure investments. The joint venture also focuses on workforce development, including establishing a local training centre to enhance skills and employment. This move expands Damen's service network in Africa, reinforcing regional maritime capabilities and contributing to Senegal's economic growth.
