On 28 Apr 2026, CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard held a completion ceremony for its first aluminium alloy Type B cargo tank, a key milestone for its new-generation BrilliancE II containment system. This tank is the first full-scale prototype of the system, which supports low-temperature containment and will be integrated with the shipyard’s PnF-COMBi insulation system. The BrilliancE II system is designed for use in high-end vessels such as Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs), LNG carriers, and FLNG facilities. The new VLEC series featuring this containment system offers significant improvements in seakeeping speed, draft condition, and fuel consumption compared to existing designs. This development marks another major breakthrough in Jiangnan Shipyard’s R&D and design capabilities for advanced containment systems.
