On 21 Apr 2026, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, delivered its fifth 18,500 DWT oil/chemical tanker to Greece’s Athenian Sea Carriers. The vessel, classed with LR, is built for unrestricted worldwide service and complies with IMO Tier III emission and EEDI Phase 3 standards. It features a methanol/LNG dual-fuel ready design, 6.6 kV high-voltage shore power, and an unmanned engine room. The ship’s CFD-optimized hull and high-efficiency propellers reduce fuel consumption while increasing cargo capacity, enhancing operational efficiency. This delivery reflects ongoing efforts to advance green shipping technologies in the tanker sector.
