Greek shipping company Carlova Maritime has placed newbuilding orders to expand its tanker fleet. Following its initial contract last year for a 300,000 DWT very large crude carrier (VLCC) at South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean, the company has now ordered a second VLCC of the same size. Alongside this, Carlova Maritime has also ordered aframax tankers, further broadening its presence in the crude carrier segment. The fleet currently includes the Japanese-built VLCC Kokkari. These new orders reflect the company’s ongoing growth strategy under the leadership of Anthony Inglessis. The expansion comes amid a competitive tanker market where newbuildings are critical to meeting future demand. Carlova Maritime’s latest investments position it to strengthen its role in global crude oil transportation.
