India has outlined a comprehensive maritime investment plan totaling approximately ₹4,08,924 crore to develop modern ports, container terminals, and shipbuilding infrastructure. Key projects include the ₹76,220 crore Vadhavan Port in Maharashtra, expected to begin Phase 1 by 2030, and the ₹44,000-₹48,000 crore Galathea Bay port in Great Nicobar
with its DPR finalized. Other significant investments include the ₹42,500 crore Dighi Port by Adani Group and the ₹29,253 crore Dugarajapatnam shipbuilding cluster in Andhra Pradesh. The plan also features expansions at existing ports such as Kandla and Mormugao, development of green hydrogen and ammonia ports, and new terminals like Tuna Tekra in Gujarat. The initiative aims to boost India's maritime capabilities, supported by public-private partnerships and international collaborations, including a proposed 4 million GT shipyard by Japan's Imabari. These efforts align with India's goal to become a major maritime force with world-class infrastructure.
