Hafnia has contracted Hyundai Heavy Industries to build eight medium-range (MR) product tankers for approximately USD 405 million. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between the third quarter of 2028 and the second quarter of 2029 at the South Korean shipyard. These newbuilds will feature fuel-efficient designs aimed at renewing Hafnia's MR fleet and supporting its decarbonisation goals. Hafnia, part of BW Group, operates around 200 vessels and provides integrated services including technical management and chartering. The company serves national and international oil companies, chemical firms, and trading houses. This order marks a strategic step for Hafnia to enhance fleet performance, strengthen earnings quality, and maintain competitiveness in the tanker segment.
