Yesterday, a significant milestone was achieved at the Mombasa shipyard with the successful launch of two 16.3-meter aluminium patrol boats under construction for the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA). The vessels, named TPA Lindo 1 and TPA Lindo 2, were officially christened and entered the water for the first time. Designed by Southerly Designs and classed by Bureau Veritas Group, the patrol boats are equipped with twin Caterpillar engines and Kamewa waterjets, reaching speeds of up to 35 knots. These vessels, built by Kenyan technicians, mark a notable achievement for the local shipbuilding industry. The next phase for the boats will be sea trials.
