Taiwanese shipping company Yang Ming Marine Transport has announced the order of six new LNG dual-fuel container ships, each with a capacity of around 13,000 TEU. The decision, approved at a recent board meeting, is part of Yang Ming’s broader fleet renewal and modernization program aimed at increasing operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact. The new vessels will primarily serve major East-West trade routes connecting Asia, Europe, the Mediterranean, and North America. The adoption of LNG technology reflects ongoing efforts in the shipping industry to comply with stricter global emission standards and to minimize the sector’s carbon and sulfur footprint. Yang Ming’s strategy is to build a fleet of about 124 ships with a total capacity of 1.25 million TEU in the coming years.
