Nam Cheong, a leading Malaysian shipbuilder and vessel charterer, has announced a significant contract win with UAE-based ADNOC Logistics & Services (ADNOC L&S). The US$64.5 million agreement will see Nam Cheong construct two pioneering 60-metre remote-operated landing craft (ROLC) and two 60-metre dive support vessels (DSVs). The ROLCs, developed by SeaOwl Group, are designed to be remotely operated from ADNOC L&S’s maritime logistics centre in Mussafah, UAE, utilizing satellite-linked AI control systems. All vessels will be built at Nam Cheong’s Miri Shipyard in Sarawak, Malaysia, with deliveries scheduled between the second half of 2027 and early 2028. CEO Seng Keat Leong believes this project will position Nam Cheong as a leader in innovative and future-proof vessel solutions.
