The Ro-Pax ferry Glen Sannox, operated by CalMac, may require new propellers to resolve ongoing technical issues. Ferguson Marine’s CEO, Graeme Thomson, stated that the vessel, delivered in late 2024 after years of delays, has experienced hull cracking near the waterline. The shipyard believes that replacing the propellers will address the root cause of these defects and prevent further damage. Although the hull has been reinforced with additional steel, the propeller replacement is considered essential for the ferry's long-term safety. Repair costs could reach approximately £3.2 million. Glen Sannox is part of a delayed project, with its sister vessel Glen Rosa still under construction and expected to be completed in 2026.
