Greek shipping company Dynacom Tankers Management, led by George Procopiou, has signed a contract with Hengli Heavy Industry for four additional 300,000-dwt Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs). This brings Dynacom’s total VLCC orders at the Chinese shipyard to 16, making it one of the largest recent order series by a single shipowner at one yard. The move reflects Dynacom’s confidence in Hengli’s shipbuilding capabilities and highlights the growing prominence of Chinese shipyards in the global tanker market. The VLCC sector is expected to see continued newbuilding activity as older vessels retire and fleet renewal accelerates.
