On February 28, 2026, Hengli Shipbuilding (Dalian) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Guangdong Songfa Ceramics Co., Ltd., announced the signing and effectiveness of two shipbuilding contracts for 93,000 cbm Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLACs). The total contract value is estimated at between US$200 million and US$300 million. This significant deal follows Hengli Shipbuilding’s recent contracts for three VLCCs and two Capesize bulk carriers earlier in the week. While the international shipowner involved in the VLAC contracts was not named due to confidentiality agreements and regulatory provisions, the contracts are denominated in US dollars and will be paid in installments according to the construction progress.
