Singapore-based tanker operator AET has announced the order of a 154,000 DWT hybrid-electric shuttle tanker from Dalian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. The vessel, designed with dual-fuel and ethanol-ready systems, is expected to be delivered in 2028. Key features include hybrid-electric propulsion, electric energy storage, and a dynamic positioning shuttle tanker configuration for offshore operations. This move is part of AET’s broader strategy to expand its multi-fuel fleet and prepare for lower-carbon shipping, reflecting the maritime industry’s push towards decarbonisation and alternative fuels such as ethanol.
