The world’s first six rotor-sail assisted Ro-Ro vessel, 'Spirit of Toulouse', has been successfully launched. Built by Wuchang Shipbuilding (CSSC) for European shipowner Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group, the vessel represents a significant milestone in green shipping technology. The 169-meter vessel features methanol dual-fuel engines, stabilizer fins, and advanced emission monitoring systems, enabling substantial reductions in harmful emissions compared to traditional fuel ships. Its six rotor sails, constructed from aerospace-grade composite materials, can cut main engine power consumption by up to 20%. This innovative vessel marks a major step towards low-carbon and sustainable global shipping.
