On January 28, Zhonggu Logistics signed a contract with Hengli Heavy Industry to build four plus two optional new 6,300 TEU container ships, marking the first cooperation between the two companies. This order represents a significant step in Zhonggu's fleet strategy, transitioning from its previous focus on 4,500 TEU vessels for domestic and regional trades toward larger, mid-size ships suitable for near-sea and selected international services. The 6,300 TEU segment offers improved cost efficiency, port flexibility, and better asset liquidity. Selecting Hengli's proven vessel design reduces execution risk for Zhonggu in a volatile shipbuilding market. The move is seen as a measured upgrade aimed at expanding Zhonggu’s service capabilities while maintaining financial and operational resilience.
