In a landmark development for India's commercial shipbuilding industry, an agreement has been signed with Europe's Rederiet Stenersen AS for the construction of six IMO Type II chemical tankers,

each with a deadweight of 18,000 tons (DWT). This order is the first of its kind for an Indian shipyard and ranks as one of the largest commercial shipbuilding contracts in the nation's history.
