Wuhu Shipyard Co. has started the new year by securing an important international contract from the Germany-based Nordic Hamburg Shipmanagement and its partners for three firm plus two optional 13,300 DWT multi-purpose heavy lift vessels. The vessels, designed for both project and general cargo, will feature a hatch coverless layout, 26,500 m³ cargo hold capacity, and a 500-ton lifting capability, enabling efficient handling of oversized and conventional shipments. Environmentally, the ships set a green benchmark with an SCR system and optimized hull form, delivering over 20% lower fuel consumption compared to older vessels, and are ice-capable for wider operational flexibility. The contract highlights Wuhu Shipyard’s progress in the high-end, multipurpose shipbuilding sector and Nordic Hamburg Group’s focus on innovative, sustainable shipping solutions. The order is expected to address growing demand for versatile, efficient, and environmentally friendly tonnage in the project cargo and heavy lift market.
