A major milestone was achieved in Assam with the launch of a Ship Repairing Facility at Pandu, Guwahati. The facility, spearheaded by Hooghly Cochin Shipyard Ltd (HooghlyCSL)—a subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited—features an 800-tonne boat hoist and aims to serve the growing demand for vessel repairs along National Waterway-2. Integrated with the Pandu Multi-Modal Transport Hub, the project is part of a broader initiative by the Inland Waterways Authority Of India (IWAI) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India. The terminal's development and modernization fall under the National Waterways Development Project, marking a significant step toward enhancing inland waterway connectivity in North East India.
