Svitzer, a global leader in towage services, has announced the signing of a shipbuilding agreement with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s largest public sector shipyard. The partnership will see the construction of a series of next-generation, battery-electric TRAnsverse 2600e tugs. This development follows a Letter of Intent signed during India Maritime Week in October 2025 and marks a significant move towards sustainable, future-ready towage solutions. The collaboration combines Svitzer’s experience in sustainable maritime operations with CSL’s shipbuilding expertise, aiming to support both the decarbonisation of port operations and India’s 'Make in India' maritime initiative.
