Dong Fang Offshore (DFO), a prominent offshore wind service provider in Asia, has announced the formal signing of a significant shipbuilding contract with Norwegian shipyard Westcon for a new Subsea and Cable Lay Vessel (CLV). The vessel, which is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027, will support DFO's fleet expansion and help maintain its competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific subsea cable market. The new CLV will replace capacity lost in Taiwan following DeepOcean's extension of the Orient Adventurer's contract in Europe. DFO aims to boost its operational capabilities, increasing its number of large construction vessels and establishing itself as a leading international marine contractor.
