Nigeria LNG (NLNG), through its shipping arm Bonny Gas Transport (BGT), has signed a contract for three new 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers with China's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, with options for three more vessels. The advanced carriers will feature dual-fuel propulsion and cutting-edge reliquefication technology to boost efficiency and reduce emissions. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2029, aligning with NLNG's Train 7 expansion and increased export ambitions. The deal highlights Nigeria's strategic efforts to modernize its sovereign LNG fleet amid growing global demand, while also underscoring China's dominance in the LNG shipbuilding sector.
