BW LNG has been identified as the buyer behind a recent order for two large LNG carriers at South Korea’s HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. The contract, valued at KRW741.2bn ($507m), was confirmed by the shipyard last week. According to Clarksons’ weekly newbuilding report, BW Group’s gas arm is acquiring the 174,000 cubic meter vessels, scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2028. While the shipbuilder’s parent company, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, initially described the agreement as being with a North America-based client, market sources now widely point to BW LNG as the purchaser. BW LNG currently operates a fleet of over 30 LNG carriers and FSRUs.
