Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) has signed a 2+2 order for 7,100 TEU containerships with Vietnam’s Hai An Green Shipping, highlighting China’s growing strength in mid-size vessel construction. The agreement, finalized on November 12 in Dalian with the participation of CSSC Trading, marks Hai An’s first major collaboration with a leading Chinese shipyard. This move reflects the increasing demand for new-generation mid-size containerships in Asia–Europe and Intra-Asia trades, as well as the broader trend of Southeast Asian carriers modernizing fleets. The deal boosts DSIC’s series of 7,100 TEU ships to 14 and reinforces its position as a global shipbuilding leader, with its orderbook now filled through 2029–2030. The contract is seen as a signal of China’s shift from scale to technological and efficiency leadership in the global shipbuilding market.
