Maersk has placed an order with New Times Shipbuilding (NTS) in China for eight 18,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships, according to several broking reports. The deal, valued at approximately $193 million per ship, also includes options for four more vessels. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028 and 2029. This move is part of Maersk's ongoing fleet renewal strategy and strengthens its partnership with the Jiangsu-based shipyard. Over the next four years, Maersk is due to receive a total of 26 LNG dual-fuel newbuilds from NTS, including vessels from SFL Corp, Seaspan, and Capital Ship Management. The latest order will bring the number of large LNG-powered ships delivered to Maersk by NTS to over 30.
