Evergreen, Taiwan's largest container carrier, has placed an order for 14 new LNG dual-fuel container vessels, each with a capacity of 14,000 TEU. The order is split equally between South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries and China's Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), according to Greek broker Intermodal. The total value of the deal is estimated at $2.8 billion, with each vessel costing around $200 million. The ships are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2030. This move will help Evergreen, currently the world's seventh largest container line, surpass the 2 million TEU fleet mark for the first time.
