This morning, a naming ceremony was held at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China, for two new LNG carriers: Mihzem and Idd Al Shargi. These vessels are the fifth and sixth in a series built under a consortium comprising MISC Group, NYK Line, 'K' Line (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd), and CLNG, for QatarEnergy. The ships, classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and China Classification Society (CCS), are named after historic Qatari offshore fields. The project features advanced membrane technology supplied by GTT and highlights significant international collaboration in the energy and shipping industries.
