Taiwan's Chinese Maritime Transport (CMT) has placed an order for two new newcastlemax bulk carriers at China State Shipbuilding Corporation’s Qingdao Beihai shipyard. The vessels, each with a capacity of 210,000 deadweight tons, are priced between $76 million and $79.8 million apiece. This follows CMT's previous orders at the same yard and builds on their ongoing fleet expansion, which includes additional newcastlemaxes under construction in Taiwan. The new ships will feature advanced fifth-generation designs, measuring 300 meters in length and 50 meters in beam. Delivery dates for the newly ordered vessels have not yet been announced.
