Seaspan Corporation has strengthened its newbuilding portfolio by ordering two 11,800 TEU containerships from China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. The order is part of a broader $440 million package involving eight vessels, as announced by Yangzijiang to the Singapore Exchange. With these new contracts, Yangzijiang's 2025 orderbook now stands at 44 ships valued at $1.9 billion. Seaspan, which is owned by Atlas Corp and operates the world’s largest fleet of containerships, continues to invest heavily in new tonnage at Chinese yards. Earlier this year, the company ordered twelve 9,000 TEU vessels at Hudong-Zhonghua and Shanghai Waigaoqiao, with deliveries expected from 2028. The newly ordered ships at Yangzijiang are due for delivery between 2027 and 2029.
