Geneva-based shipping company Advantage Tankers has expanded its investment in large tankers by placing new orders in South Korea. The company has exercised an option for a 320,000 dwt very large crude carrier (VLCC) at Hanwha Ocean's Okpo yard, with delivery set for September 2027. This follows previous VLCC contracts at the same yard, with the latest vessel estimated to cost $127 million. Additionally, Advantage Tankers has ordered two 157,000 dwt LNG-ready suezmax tankers at DH Shipbuilding, scheduled for delivery in July and September 2027. The company's continued expansion comes as charter rates for large tankers remain volatile but relatively strong.
