U-Ming Marine Transport Corporation has announced the successful delivery of the Grand Pioneer, a 325,000 DWT Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC), marking a significant milestone in maritime sustainability. The vessel has been equipped with four 35x5m folding ANEMOI Rotor Sails, which were assembled at Anemoi's production base on the Yangtze River and transported to COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard for installation. The process of lifting and securing the Rotor Sails took just 1.5 days, with commissioning and testing completed in an additional five days during the vessel's scheduled dry-dock in September 2025. The Grand Pioneer is expected to reduce annual fuel consumption and emissions by 10–12% on average, making U-Ming the first Taiwanese shipowner to adopt Rotor Sails and reinforcing its leadership in decarbonisation. This project showcases the impact of industry collaboration and innovative technology in advancing the shipping sector toward a net-zero future.
