VARD, a subsidiary of Fincantieri, has announced a new contract with North Star, the UK’s largest shipowner-operator, for the design and construction of two hybrid Service Operation Vessels (SOVs). The vessels, based on the VARD 4 19 platform and designed in Ålesund, Norway, are tailored for offshore windfarm operations and will accommodate up to 120 personnel. They will feature a battery hybrid system and be ready for future conversion to methanol operation. Vard Electro will supply its integrated SeaQ package to optimize vessel performance. This agreement further strengthens the partnership between VARD and North Star, highlighting their commitment to innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector.
