Great Lakes Launches Acadia Subsea Rock Installation Vessel at Hanwha Philly Shipyard

domestic maritime activities. The Acadia vessel has been designed to transport and place up to 20,000 metric tonnes of rock on the seabed. This initiative is intended to provide scour protection for subsea infrastructures such as cables, pipelines, and offshore wind turbine foundations. By mitigating the effects of erosion caused by waves and currents, the vessel aims to reduce the risks associated with equipment and vessel impacts. While Acadia predominantly supports the domestic offshore energy market, Great Lakes also intends to deploy it in international offshore energy projects.
