HSG Sungdong Shipbuilding has made a significant comeback in the global shipbuilding industry by securing a strategic partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries. After years of financial struggle and operating mainly as a block builder, HSG Sungdong has now been subcontracted by Samsung Heavy to construct a full suezmax-class crude oil tanker, marking a new level of collaboration. The 158,000 dwt vessel will be delivered under Samsung Heavy's name, showcasing a new synergy model in South Korea's shipyard sector. In addition to this milestone, HSG Sungdong has landed a major offshore production facility order for Africa and is expanding into the offshore wind sector, including infrastructure work for Taiwan’s Changhua wind farm. With substantial capital injection and upgraded facilities, HSG Sungdong is poised to target more complex global projects, reflecting Samsung Heavy’s strategy of engaging partners worldwide.
