Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (Xiangyu Marine Equipment) has officially confirmed its first order for 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax bulk carriers, marking a major milestone as the company enters the large tonnage bulker market. The deal, announced in celebration of China Maritime Day, involves three high-efficiency, eco-friendly vessels ordered by Japanese shipowner Doun Kisen. Each ship is valued at $75-76 million and is expected to be delivered by 2028. The new ships will feature advanced energy-saving technology, including high-efficiency propellers, hull optimization, exhaust gas cleaning systems, and ballast water treatment systems, aligning with the industry's push for greener and more efficient shipping practices.
