Amplus Energy Services has chosen Astican Shipyard in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for the reactivation of the Petrojarl I FPSO. This multimillion-dollar project aims to ready the floating production, storage, and offloading unit for its next deployment. The Petrojarl I was last used offshore Brazil and will undergo vital preparation at the Spanish facility, positioned strategically off Africa's northwest coast. Known for its adaptability, this FPSO is highly sought after in the industry. Amplus Energy Services announced the completion of their purchase of Petrojarl I from Altera Infrastructure, following a February 2025 deal. The FPSO, with a production capacity of 30,000 barrels per day and storage for 180,000, was replaced at the Petrobras' Atlanta field by a larger unit. Steve Gardyne, Managing Director at Amplus, emphasized the strategic move into direct asset ownership and expressed excitement over collaborating with Astican Shipyard. The goal is to ensure a safe and efficient turnaround for the vessel's redeployment.
