VARD has announced the signing of a new contract with Taiwanese company Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) for the design and construction of a Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV). This deal follows a prior agreement for two CSOVs made in May 2024 and is part of a larger contract initiated in April 2025 for an Offshore Subsea Construction vessel.
The newly contracted CSOV is designed with advanced capabilities for supporting wind farm operations in Taiwan. The vessel boasts a flexible design with a low environmental footprint, ensuring efficient operational capacities and fuel efficiency. It is prepared for future integration with modular power and fiber optic systems, tailored to the evolving needs of offshore wind farm operations.
The latest CSOV includes a completely electric equipment package, featuring a reliable battery system and advanced crane and gangway technologies. With accommodation for 120 people, the vessel’s facilities are designed to high standards, ensuring comfort for crew and clients. CEO of DFO, Polin Chen, emphasized the trust customers have placed in DFO to provide long-term solutions, reinforcing its position in Taiwan’s offshore energy sector.
VARD is responsible for delivering a comprehensive solution for the CSOV, covering the entire process from design to construction. The project will integrate the SeaQ suite of technologies developed by Vard Electro , focusing on efficiency and safety in operational data management. VARD Interiors will support with modern, sustainable living and working environments, while Seaonics contributes an electric lift and handling system tailored for offshore operations.
Cathrine Kristiseter Marti, CEO of Vard Group, praised the ongoing collaboration with DFO, highlighting the strong partnership's impact on achieving sustainable solutions for the offshore industry. The vessel will be constructed at Vard Vung Tau and is slated for delivery in the first quarter of 2028.
