Sentinel Marine , a member of the Cyan Renewables Group, has announced a new addition to its fleet, increasing the total to 15 vessels. The company has signed a shipbuilding contract with Jiangmen Hangtong Shipbuilding Co., Ltd to construct a 65-metre multi-role energy support vessel. This initiative also includes the option to build three more vessels.
The state-of-the-art vessel is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2027. Designed as a DP2 vessel, it will boast a deadweight of 1,600 tonnes and feature 375m² of clear deck space. It will also have extensive under-deck capacity for various supplies including fuel oil and potable water, ensuring efficiency and versatility in its operations.
This new vessel will serve as a Group B UK emergency response and rescue vessel (ERRV), equipped with a fast rescue craft and hybrid daughter craft. It will comply with both Dutch and Danish ERRV regulations and will provide accommodation for 37 to 47 personnel, making it highly adaptable for multiple rescue scenarios.
Beyond emergency response, the vessel will feature an optional work-to-work gangway, a warehouse under-deck, and battery hybrid propulsion. These features will expand its operational capabilities to serve offshore wind and transitional energy support, government services, carbon capture initiatives, and maritime security roles.
Rory Deans, CEO of Sentinel Marine , expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the vessel's role in advancing the company's strategic goals. Deans stated that the vessel would be instrumental in the company’s transition to environmentally-friendly, multi-sector marine services.
Keng Lin Lee, CEO of Cyan Renewables, emphasized the group's commitment to sustainable innovation and praised the investment as reinforcing Sentinel Marine 's position as a leading ERRV provider with the youngest fleet in Europe.
