Poland's shipbuilding industry, with historical roots going back to the Middle Ages, flourished during the 20th century, especially during the 1960s and 1970s. Although its global market share has declined, shipbuilding remains a critical component of Poland's maritime economy, now more focused on repair and maintenance services.
