Petrobras is set to expand its maritime capabilities by adding four more support vessels to its fleet, reaching a total of 48 new ships by 2026. This expansion was confirmed by Chief Executive Magda Chambriard, following the company’s expectation of increased offshore oil output in the upcoming years, particularly in the Buzios field. The initiative aligns with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's vision to revive Brazil's shipbuilding industry, thereby stimulating local economic growth and creating jobs. The fleet expansion strategy includes a variety of vessels such as platform support and gas tankers. Initially, Petrobras planned for 44 vessels, but recent developments suggested an increase. Sergio Bacci, head of Petrobras' transportation and logistics subsidiary Transpetro, hinted at this potential earlier, demonstrating the company's commitment to enhancing operational support within the offshore oil industry.
