GTT has entered into a Technical Assistance and License Agreement with the Chinese shipyard Hengli Shipbuilding, a division of the leading Chinese conglomerate, Hengli Group. The agreement, signed at a ceremony in Dalian, China, marks a significant expansion of GTT's presence and technological influence within the region. This collaboration will allow Hengli to integrate GTT's advanced membrane containment systems into the construction of various vessels, including LNG Carriers, Very Large Ethane Carriers, and other multi-fuel vessels. This development is part of GTT's ongoing strategy to provide cutting-edge solutions for the maritime industry, especially in light of increasing demands for sustainable shipping options. Hengli achieved the GTT license following a rigorous qualification process that began in 2024, involving extensive studies and mock-up construction of GTT's Mark III technology. Jean-Baptiste Choimet, CEO of GTT, praised the agreement with Hengli as a critical step in extending the reach of their technologies within China, highlighting Hengli's technical proficiency and innovation as key to this partnership. Similarly, Chen Jianhua, Chairman of Hengli Group, emphasized the opportunity this collaboration presents to construct state-of-the-art vessels using GTT's systems.
