Royal Caribbean Group has confirmed plans for a sixth Edge-class ship to join the Celebrity Cruises fleet in 2028. The vessel, to be constructed by French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique, will serve as a sister ship to Celebrity Xcel, scheduled to launch later this year.The Edge class debuted in 2018 with Celebrity Edge, followed by Celebrity Apex, Celebrity Beyond, and Celebrity Ascent. Known for innovative features such as Infinite Veranda® staterooms and other unique design elements, the series is a cornerstone of the Celebrity Cruises brand.

The new ship is expected to retain key features from its predecessors while introducing new, yet-to-be-revealed innovations.This order is part of Royal Caribbean Group’s broader strategy of measured capacity expansion, which includes a total of eight ships currently in its pipeline. The company is set to welcome Celebrity Xcel and Royal Caribbean International's Star of the Seas into service later this year.
