Thailand’s Prima Marine has formalized an agreement with Ningbo Zhenhe Shipyard and CSTC Shanghai for the construction of six advanced 2,499 DWT product tankers. The signing, which took place on January 18, 2025, underscores a commitment to modern, efficient, and sustainable vessel designs.

The 73-meter tankers, designed by FKAB, will cater specifically to Thailand’s coastal and riverine operations. Each vessel will be equipped with five pairs of epoxy-coated cargo tanks and one pair of slop tanks to ensure safe transportation of clean petroleum products.

Technological highlights include FKAB’s patented low-resistance F-Bow hull form, a bio-diesel compatible four-stroke main engine, and a high-efficiency fixed-pitch propeller. Enhanced maneuverability is ensured by a bow thruster and flap rudder, while features like LED lighting and a shaft generator reinforce the design’s energy-efficient and eco-friendly focus. The project timeline and cost remain undisclosed.
