The company is actively preparing to double its vessel orders at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea. If confirmed, this move will see CMA CGM's newbuilding expenditure with the Korean shipbuilder reaching an impressive $5.5 billion.
Industry sources, including brokers and newbuilding suppliers, reveal that CMA CGM aims to procure offers for up to 12 ships, each with a capacity of 18,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).
